Unearthed Update: July 30 (Boring Text Stuff)

In lieu of a graphical update this week, I’m going to show off some SUPER BORING TEXT STUFF. Well, maybe not SUPER boring. Just some mundane text organizational stuff I’ve been doing over the past week or so.

One of the main things I’ve been working on is the ability list for Unearthed. It’s basically a document that contains every move that can be used by an enemy, boss, PC or NPC with the game. It may not sound like a lot of work, but EarthBound was somewhat quirky as it gave a lot of enemies unique abilities. For example, here is an incomplete listing of the physical attacks that are used in the game:

You may notice some slight changes to the original listing that I’ve already implemented, and I’ll be making a whole bunch more down the line. My basic train of thought is to have different tiers of moves with overarching themes. For example: “Threw a Bomb”, “Throw a Big Bomb” and “Fire Some Heavy Artillery” are all explosive attacks that hit a group of opponents, but vary in power.

I aim to have the full listing complete in the next week or so, at which point I’ll ship it off to RS for revisions.
