The cow you see above is a cow of destiny. It is the first NPC placed in Glensborough, and the first step towards a playable version of Unearthed. It seems weird to finally get to this point after so many years of work, but here we are.
Some patch notes and general ramblings for all of you.
- I had to spend a bunch of time debugging sprites this week, as I realized that not all of them had their sizes set properly. This will require more debugging in the future, but I thought I’d get most of the heavy lifting done ahead of time.
- Most of the NPC dialogue for Glensborough has been written and formatted. Glensborough is an interesting area, as it has a lot of NPCs but most of their dialogue is fairly static.
- I’ve applied H.S.’s fixes to physical attack hierarchy. These basically let you choose attack powers ranging from 1 to 4 (in increments of 0.5). Very useful for enemy attacks!
- I’ve also done some ASM finagling to prepare for movement code (cut scene) implementation.
I’m taking a slight break from hacking for a week or so, before diving head-first into NPC placement. I’ll keep you all posted as I make progress.
I’m excited for an Earthbound hack that’s much more then just recolors or buffed enemies.
Do you feel like there’s competition with your hack and the (supposedly upcoming) Mother 4?
Either way I know what you’re gonna make will be impressive.
Not really! We’re all sorta on the same team in the Starmen.net community. Plus, both games are 100% free, so everyone can just play both if they want to.
hopefully soon the game finally starts coming to life and stops looking like a tech demo. cheers to maybe progress!
Thank you Cow of Destiny.
