Testing Grounds Complete!

The Testing Grounds are now complete! This was a particularly tricky area to create, since the colours were finicky and editing rock formations is absolutely mind-numbing.

The Testing Grounds is one of the first areas to be explored in Act 3 of Unearthed. It is a cross between a desert, a salt flat and a nuclear testing ground. Strange creatures inhabit this irradiated wasteland, accosting Mitchell as he wanders across the scorched earth.

You can check out a small portion of the map below. I think the craters turned out pretty well, and the white sand helps to reinforce a sense of emptiness and isolation.

On an unrelated note: welcome to the new site everybody! Once the dust had settled after my wedding, I decided that it was time to make the website a little more robust. Instead of summarize all the changes right now, while the website is still somewhat incomplete, I’ll post more about them as content is added.

One thing I will touch on right now is the change in name. I felt that “hyperbound.net” was  little antiquated… especially since most of what I talk about on the blog now is Unearthed progress and independent games. The World Is Square is a more broad and inclusive title; playing off a few video game tropes and customs.

It was also one of the few domain names I looked at that wasn’t being squatted on. Always a bonus!
