Stompin’ Grounds Complete

The map design for the Stompin’ Grounds is complete!  The Grounds is a dangerous area where infected Mycori warriors run berserk.  Consisting of a series of small tunnels and layered platforms, the player must either climb to the top of the cavern or descend to the very bottom to meet his objective.

One danger posed by the Stompin’ Grounds is the claustrophobic nature of the cavern’s tunnels.  In many situations the player cannot avoid combat, and must fight his way through numerous powerful enemies to clear his path.  Either navigational choice (ascending or descending the cavern) will result in a tough boss fight; a significant threat to an already weakened player.

Enjoy the area preview!  I’ll be working on an area called the Ashen Steppes next, as well as a game summary that I hope to have posted within the next couple weeks.

  • Will you be able to backtrack and go the other way at some point if you wanted to? Or is it one of those one-way routes? I like exploring every nook and cranny of maps.

  • Each direction offers an objective for the player to complete. While it is impossible to complete both objectives, you are free to explore the whole map during the process or afterwards.

I thought it would be neat to have at least one dungeon which the players had to make a hard decision on how to progress. Although the consequences of taking one path over the other are minute, they are irreversible.
