Mulch Complete

mulchsquareThe map design of Mulch has been completed for Unearthed!  Mulch is the first (and one of the only) true town zones in the game, with a large Grel population living within its caverns.  It is an ideal place for a player to restock on supplies, rest up and gain information about the underworld.

As a sidenote, the only thing I really made unique about this zone are the doors.  I didn’t like the stock “cave doors” that occur in the original EarthBound rom, so I decided to whip up a simple variant.  Take a look at the fancy new doors, as well as the rest of Mulch, in the image below.

  • You’re definitely showing off some really cool area as far as maps are concerned, but what about the rest of the game? Story? Coding? New features? Just curious.

  • I actually had a lot of the story and game features posted on the old blog, but I never ended up transferring them to the new site. Perhaps I should repost them! It would be good to give people a bit more background about the game’s plot and characters.

    It would be a nice break from the map editing at least! Especially considering I’ll probably be working on the maps for at least another 4 or 5 months.
